Friday Finds

Hi all!

This is a segment I’m bringing over from my other blog, Oatmeal with a Fork.

I like to kind of round up things that I’m reading, watching, using, or eating in one place. If you have anything to add, please comment below!

Lemon Juice Toner

Though I love my Homemade Vitamin C Serum, I like to change-up my skin care routine so my face doesn’t become resistant to the same products.

When my face needs brightening or toning (usually after a workout or a sleep-deprived night), I like to swipe lemon juice (naturally high in vitamin C) on my skin.

I typically leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off, and it leaves my skin brighter and tighter!

A Good, Clean Movie

It’s tough to find a good movie anymore, so I often revert back to the old stuff.

Doris Day is one of my all-time favorite actresses, and, as such, Pillow Talk is on my list of good clean movies you should watch!

It’s a cute, innocent love story with two of the most attractive actors of their time.

Cleaning Toothbrushes

Sometimes I find myself grimacing at the sight of a toothbrush…all the germs and bacteria from our mouths that just sit and fester…ew.

This is why every so often I set all of our toothbrushes into a glass of hydrogen peroxide to give them a good cleaning! I just pour enough peroxide into the glass to cover the bristles, and then let them sit for at least an hour to kill off those nasty little critters.

Garlic for Blemishes

A little trick I learned a while back is if you feel a blemish coming on, rub it with a slice of fresh garlic.

For those of you in public job, you may not want to go around smelling of the potent bulb, so just rub it on before you go to bed at night. It works wonders at reducing inflammation and redness!

Activated Charcoal

Typically taken internally for its ability to reduce intestinal gas and bloating, charcoal has also been popping up in numerous skin care lines lately.

Relying on its capacity to exfoliate and draw out toxins, I’ve been making my own ‘Detox’ Facial Masks with this powerful ingredient, and it’s definitely making a difference!

My husband has been telling me that my skin looks the best it has looked in a long time, and I totally attribute it to my nightly masks that are created with turmeric and charcoal, among a few other ingredients.

If you have anything you’re enjoying lately, please share it below!
